Get ready for a fantastic night of live acoustic music as Albert's Songwriters Showcase makes its way to Albert's Shed in Shrewsbury on Wednesday, October 1st! Kicking off at 8:30 PM and with absolutely free entry, this is your chance to catch three incredible local talents sharing their original tunes.

First up, we're thrilled to welcome back Josh Lobley, a Shrewsbury native known for his unique and catchy style. Drawing inspiration from folk legends like Frank Turner and Kate Rusby, Josh effortlessly blends a hint of folk into his diverse sound. With a passion for writing about daily life that truly resonates, and having just launched his debut album "Fractured Tales" to critical acclaim, Josh's energetic live performance is truly not to be missed.

Next on the bill is Barry Williams, a talented singer-songwriter from Welshpool, now based in Shrewsbury. Barry released his excellent debut solo album ‘Open Book’ earlier this year, with tracks frequently featured on BBC Introducing Shropshire. Influenced by a diverse range from Manic Street Preachers to Taylor Swift, you can expect a captivating set of songs from his album, new material, and his usual colourful explanations behind each track.

Completing our brilliant line-up is the seasoned musician and composer Richard Benjamin. With around 50 years of experience, Richard has lent his talents to numerous bands like Civilian and Magenta Crumpet. As a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, he's got a solo album under his belt and is currently crafting a follow-up. Prepare for an eclectic mix of original material from this long-established Shrewsbury artist.

So, mark your calendars, grab your mates, and head down to Albert's Shed for a cracking night supporting local music – it's going to be a good one!

JOSH LOBLEY
Born and raised amongst the Shropshire Hills in the small market town of Shrewsbury, Josh Lobley is a singer songwriter who prides himself on his unique but catchy style.
With influences and inspirations from Frank Turner, Billy Bragg Seth Lakeman and Kate Rusby, Josh adds a hint of folk to the mix to give his compositions a unique and diverse sound that draws on the best of all of his influences.
Josh’s passion to write about his daily goings on and how he perceives the world allows his audience to engage and relate to each of his tracks.
With three EP’s and three singles available to purchase, Josh's songs show a depth and diversity that is winning him fans across the music industry.
Josh released his third single "The Soil" to critical acclaim and is an incredible opening shot from a record that is full of emotion and erudite lyrics that lift the soul and shine a light on the human condition.

BARRY WILLIAMS
Barry Williams is a Shrewsbury-based singer-songwriter originally hailing from Welshpool, Mid Wales. He released his debut solo album ‘Open Book’ earlier this year and has had several tracks played on BBC Introducing Shropshire, amongst other stations.
Barry’s influences include Manic Street Preachers, Kacey Musgraves, Frank Turner, Jimmy Eat World, Taylor Swift, Max Boyce, Tom McRae, Sturgill Simpson and Miranda Lambert.
As well as performing songs from his recent album, Barry will be playing some new material mixed with his usual colourful explanations behind the songs.

RICHARD BENJAMIN.
A musician and composer for around 50 years Richard has played with and written for many bands over the decades, including Civilian, the Dress Down Fridays, Ra Rising and the mighty Magenta Crumpet. As a multi instrumentalist and vocalist, he also released a solo album a few years ago and is currently working on a follow up. Expect an eclectic mix of original material from a long established, Shrewsbury based musician.
